The Conservatory of music of Frosinone organized a week of music from all around the world from the 8th to the 14th of April 2018: traditions and languages from different countries met in Frosinone thanks to the collaboration with the University of Cape Coast, Department of Music and Dance, GHANA, the Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte, School of Music, Natal, BRAZIL, the Royal Academy of Music Aarhus/Aalborg, DENMARK and the Sibelius Academy, Helsinki, FINLAND. A Bulgarian musician and an Iranian singer joined us too.
Several different projects converged in this major one, specifically the Erasmus International Credit Mobility between Frosinone and Natal (Brazil) and the Master of Global Music held in Aarhus and Helsinki.
Each country was represented by at least one teacher and three students.
The program of the week included presentations of the musical traditions of each involved country, workshops about specific aspects of local music, work sessions for small and large groups to prepare the final concert, improvisation sessions and meetings with a few high schools in Alatri.
We grouped the participants to mix and include different music cultures. The “facilitators” (teachers) of the groups chose specific musical material (e.g. traditional melodies) to stimulate the students’ creativity, aiming both at facilitating the deep understanding of the material, and at re-creating them through the cross-contamination between cultures.
The result went well beyond the strictly musical outcomes and the project succeeded in creating a feeling of love and brotherhood that will never leave those who took part in the Camp: they played together and recognized each other in their various musical heritages.
They will never fight against each other.

Conference Panel 2- Education and Culture to fight Radicalism
Il Conservatorio di Frosinone, in collaborazione con University of Cape Coast, Department of Music and Dance, GHANA, Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte, School of Music, Natal, BRAZIL, Royal Academy of Music Aarhus/Aalborg, DENMARK e Sibelius Academy, Helsinki, FINLAND, ha organizzato dall’8 al 15 aprile 2018 una Settimana dedicata ai suoni e alla musica dal mondo per favorire l’incontro di tradizioni e linguaggi musicali da paesi diversi. Hanno partecipato anche una musicista bulgara e un cantante iraniano.
In questo grande progetto sono confluiti più progetti diversi, in particolare la Erasmus International Credit Mobility che il Conservatorio di Frosinone sta realizzando col Brasile e il Master of Global Music che si tiene ad Aarhus e Helsinki.
Ciascun paese era rappresentato da almeno un docente e tre studenti.
Il programma della settimana comprendeva presentazioni delle tradizioni musicali di ciascun paese che partecipava, laboratori legati ad aspetti particolari delle varie tradizioni musicali, sessioni di lavoro a piccoli gruppi e grandi gruppi in preparazione del concerto finale, sessioni di improvvisazione, e un incontro con le scuole di Alatri.
I piccoli gruppi e i grandi gruppi, ciascuno formato in modo da mettere insieme culture musicali diverse, erano affidati a docenti “facilitatori”, ognuno dei quali ha usato particolari risorse musicali (ad esempio melodie tradizionali) per sollecitare la creatività dei giovani, cercando di facilitare da una parte la profonda comprensione di quelle risorse, e dall’altra la loro ricreazione attraverso la contaminazione tra culture.
Il risultato è andato ben oltre gli esiti strettamente musicali, riuscendo, il progetto, a creare un sentimento di amore e fratellanza che non lascerà mai chi ha partecipato al campo: hanno suonato insieme e insieme si sono riconosciuti nei vari patrimoni musicali che ognuno ha portato con sé, non potranno mai combattere l’uno contro l’altro.
